Our providers offer newborn services at Emerson Hospital and Lowell General Hospital.

We accept the majority of insurance plans.

CONVENIENCE

We have X-Ray facilities located in the same building. The Westford office has Laboratory, Physical therapy, Ultrasound, MRI, and CAT Scan. There are multiple specialists located in the Westford facility.

SPECIALTY CARE

Pediatrics West has several specialty clinics run by our own practitioners.

I. The ASTHMA CLINIC is run by Nicole Duane, NP and Karen Flynn., NP. This clinic performs diagnostic work-ups on children with chronic or recurrent pulmonary problems. Sophisticated pulmonary function testing is available as part of the evaluation. Thorough parent and patient teaching is provided. Medications are managed to minimize the impact of this disease on the child's lifestyle.

II. The ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER clinic is run by Patricia Jackson. She does evaluations of children with suspected ADD and provides long-term management of medications. She also screens these patients for any associated psychiatric disorders. She maintains close communications with parents and teachers to provided optimum management.

III. The ALLERGY CLINIC is run by Dr. Russell Coleman. Allergy evaluation plays an important role in the care of children with asthma as well as those with the more typical nasal symptoms. Testing is done for common inhalant allergies such as dust, pets, mold and outdoor pollens. Testing can be done by blood testing or skin prick.

IV. The SPORTS MEDICINE CLINIC will be run by Joan Eagan, MD and Lazaros Xanthopolous, MD.

V. The SMART SEX PROGRAM is run by Karen R. Flynn, NP, Anh Lewin, RN and Gail Giffen, RN. This program is offered to area middle school parents and students.

VI. The TINY FINGER TINY TOES PROGRAM is run by Aimee Miller, RN and Alison Cambridge, LPN. This program is offered free of charge to all expecting parents in the area. Topics covered include newborn appearance, home safety, immunizations, doctor visits, and baby care basics.

VII. The ACNE CLINIC is run by Dr. Lazaros Xanthopoulos. Adolescents with acne are managed with teaching and a variety of effective medications.

VIII. The Healty Eating Lifestyle Plan (H.E.L.P.) is a program developed for our patients who have a BMI (Body Mass Index) in the 95% or higher.  We offer discounted exercise classes at two area fitness centers.

COVERAGE

Nurses are readily available in Westford and Groton during the daytime to assist with routine issues, or to help you decide if your child needs to be seen that day. We provide after-hour (nights, weekends, and holidays) phone access to assist with more urgent issues. 

Patients sent to the Emergency Department or Inpatient Ward at Emerson Hospital or Lowell General are often managed with the help of the hospitalist. This is a group of highly trained pediatricians who specialize in newborn and inpatient pediatric medicine. These pediatricians are available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
